About the role

The Sir Devonshire Square Hotel’s Financial Controller will play a crucial role in the (pre-) opening process. As part of the management team and in close cooperation with the Head Office in Amsterdam, you will be responsible for setting up the finance department. You will report directly to the Group Director of Finance.

Your role will consist of the following responsibilities:

• Pre-opening & set-up (finance) policies and processes in compliance with Sircle Collection standards and local tax and reporting regulations;
• Responsible for the bookkeeping including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable & receivable and payroll as well as for purchase and store, including cost control;
• Monitoring performance of the hotel and restaurants compared to budget and monthly reporting of the hotel and restaurants and pro-actively communicate major deviations;
• Ensure professional and efficient utilization of all systems, in line with company best practices and standard operating procedures;
• Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments;
• Manage the operational insurances under supervision of the Group Director of Finance;

About you

You have a passion for hospitality and are an innovative and experienced Financial Controller with strong knowledge of finance and tax. Our ideal candidate can quickly establish credibility and respect and performs well at building strong working relationships. You demonstrate commitment and passion – your approach is positive and pragmatic.

In addition you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance management/business administration;
• At least 5 years’ experience in a financial environment, preferably hotel industry, out of which 3 years in an (assistant) manager position;
• Experience in (pre)openings & acquisitions;
• Knowledge of management systems for all accounting functions including purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, cash and banking, nominal ledger and stock;
• Solid knowledge of national/local tax and reporting regulations;
• Self-starter with ability to set priorities and multi-task;
• Experience with IT systems customary to the hotel & restaurant industry is a plus.
