The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Group Director of Hotel Operations to organize and oversee the daily operations of our hotels. This will include collaborating with other overhead Directors across various departments to make decisions regarding operational activities and strategic goals. Furthermore, the Group Director of Hotel Operations will lead the hotel operational teams (Regional Operations Directors, Clusters GM’s, Pre-opening Manager and GM’s) to translate strategies into operational plans, budgets, and goals. This role is based in our Headquarters in Amsterdam but will involve regular travel throughout Europe. In this position you will report to the CEO.


What you’ll be doing

  • Mentors, oversee and manage Regional Operation Directors & General Managers to ensure successful operation of their hotels; sets short-term and long range goals in tandem with Executive Team & Group Directors to aid and achieve each property’s defined performance metrics.
  • Ensures responsible financial management of assigned hotels at all times. In partnership with leadership team, develop annual budgets to accurately forecast financial performance and to deliver financial results in accordance with those budgets.
  • Take charge of the recruitment of the key positions, most importantly Hotel Managers and including other overheard positions in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Translate strategy into operational plans and goals, set objectives for operational department heads in line with company policy and monitor the hotel budget.
  • Ensures that all assigned assets are properly maintained and protected, and that fire safety programs and practices are being enforced.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
  • Ensure operational standards are communicated, trained, and maintained.
  • Collaborate with other overhead department heads across various departments to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
  • Implement and monitor the Sircle brand operational service deliverables and ensure all team members follow the SOP’s and demonstrate the operational service levels consistently.
  • Critically analyzes all metrics (including but not limited to financial reports, GST, STR, Quality Assurance Inspections, P&Ls, Talent Opinion Surveys, Employee Turnover, etc.), assessing actual performance to defined benchmarks, identifying variances, and initiating corrective action.
  • Works closely with owners to build relationships and ensure effective, proactive communication with ownership representatives at all times.

Job requirements

What you bring

We are looking for a self-starting team player who is excited by challenge and is looking for work that sparks real connections. You bring:

  • Excellent leadership skills; A proven track record of success as a Group Director of Hotel Operations or comparable position.
  • At least 8 years of experience managing lifestyle boutique hotels, overseeing multiple brands/hotels and regions (at least 10-15 hotels), with pre- opening experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar in business/hospitality related management as well as previous management skills in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience providing excellent, personalized boutique-style guest service, and creating a culture of service excellence.
  • Inspirational leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and train a high performing team, ensuring a culture of service excellence.
  • Highly visible, proactive, hands-on and personally involved in the operations.
  • Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively while being open to feedback and learning.
  • Ability to see “the big picture”, whilst having an eye for detail, and an inherent thoroughness in task approach, follow-up and completion.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating multiple long-term projects, on time and within budget
  • Critically analyzes all metrics (including but not limited to financial reports, GSS, STR, Quality Assurance Inspections, P&L, Talent Opinion Surveys, Employee Turnover), assessing actual performance to defined benchmarks, identifying variances and initiating corrective action.
  • Able to identify mark trends and adjust business strategy accordingly
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
